Inspiration | The process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative | English Dictionary

I'm definitely an 'ideas person' and a 'visual' person. Sometimes my head can feel as if it's literally bursting with inspiration and new ideas which is why I always have a notebook next to my bed or desk for these 'creative' moments so I can scribble them all down. (yes, I know I should be writing them on the phone, iPad or whatever but I still find the pen and paper method still works for me.)

Maybe it's because my mind is constantly being mentally stimulated with creative ideas that I find it easy to 'visualise things' - which in Interior Design is a useful skill. I remember watching an interview with the wonderful Kelly Hoppen where she stated that she finds it easy to look at a room and visualise it in a completely different state or layout. She frequently talks about how she can 'design something in her head'. She openly talks about being dyslexic and how this has had to make her view most things visually.  I have to say, I too can design something in my head and visual things quite easily (and hey, lets hope this skill takes me as far as it's taken the talented Ms Hoppen!)

I can definitely look at a room and instantly get a feel for how it may look in a transformed layout or design. I know many of my clients struggle with this which is why the use of mood boards and visual designs are so helpful to create it visually for them. Being able to visualise things can sometimes be dangerous however and became somewhat testing when looking for a new home. I would view a property and instantly see the potential regardless of it's state, which was somewhat frightening for my husband as he hurried me out before making endless offers.......

So where can we find inspiration ?

Literally anywhere. From fashion, music, family, food, architecture..... the list is endless

INSPIRATION FROM TRAVEL

One major source for me is when I travel and the delights it brings - I literally see inspiration EVERYWHERE - creativity and inspiration in bundles.

If you follow me on Instagram you will know I took a quick trip to Paris last weekend and as you can imagine, it was a visual delight and I was able to feast on inspiration overload. I was quite conscious that I was 'spamming' my followers over the 2 days with numerous posts so felt it maybe more polite to put a few of my finds in a neat blog post instead so it would feel slightly less bombarding!

I hope you're sitting comfortably, with a cup of coffee or tea in hand as 've not held back and there's quite a few to view.... but I hope you like them as much as I enjoyed finding them.
